How do people get on the Bargaining Unit Executive?
How do people get on the Bargaining Unit Executive? Members of the Bargaining Unit Executive are all TDSB teachers. They are elected to their positions during elections that occur every second year in accordance with the STBU Constitution. During an election year, an Election Commission made up of members of STBU Council reviews and refines the election rules and sets the dates for closure of nominations in accordance with the time lines set out in the Constitution. Any member of the Bargaining Unit may submit their name to run for a position on the Executive. At the Annual General Meeting speeches are given by candidates and there is time allotted for members to ask questions of candidates. Voting takes place in schools on an appointed date during the week after the Annual General Meeting. Each member has the opportunity to help choose their Executive leadership team for the next two year term of office. |
