TPA

Teacher Performance Appraisal Process Manual

Teacher Performance Appraisal (TPA) is the process of evlauation for teachers that was developed by the Ministry of Education and is implemented by the employer (TDSB).  When the TPA Process was first introduced, OSSTF District 12 STBU Executive worked with the TDSB to ensure that teachers benefit from reasonable expectations and time lines along with other additional rights not included in the government's manual.

A number of years later, convinced that testing teacher-candidates was not the best way to ascertain their fitness to enter the profession, the Ministry of Education developed the New Teacher Induction Program which includes a specific TPA process for new teachers.  In the same spirit as above, OSSTF worked with the Board to ensure our newest members have the same kinds of protections and rights while undergoing this evaluation process as do our more experienced members.

Below you will find links to the TPA Ministry Document, the NTIP Ministry Document as well as to documents that outline the process as agreed upon between the Union and the employer in relation to implementation of these documents.

Should you have any questions or concerns about the TPA process as it relates to you, do not hesitate to be in touch with your Executive Officer.
